Since 2018, the Kponee-Shovein Foundation has been committed to addressing food insecurity in underserved communities across Ogoniland.
Our efforts began in Uegwere Boue, where we launched an annual food distribution program to support some of the community’s most vulnerable members, including widows, orphans, and individuals who are infirm. Each year, we have provided essential food supplies to approximately 200 individuals in Uegwere Boue.
In 2020, we expanded our outreach to include the Gbam Boue community, another area facing significant economic hardship. With this expansion, the Foundation broadened its impact and deepened its commitment to supporting families in need.
Today, the Kponee-Shovein Foundation distributes food supplies annually to more than 350 families across both Uegwere Boue and Gbam. These distributions include staple items such as bags of rice, cooking oil, and other essential ingredients that help sustain households and improve daily living conditions. This ongoing initiative has made a meaningful difference in the lives of many families, helping to alleviate food insecurity and provide a measure of stability in challenging circumstances. The Foundation remains dedicated to continuing and expanding this work in the years ahead.
