To apply to become a Kponee-Shovein Scholar, please fill out the Kponee-Shovein Scholars Application Form. Additionally, please send together the form and the following documents to kponeeshoveinfoundation@gmail.com:
- Essay 1, Maximum length 1000 words: describe your motivations for pursuing your area of study, reasons for applying for the scholarship award, and career plans upon graduating.
- Essay 2, Maximum length 1000 words: Tell us about your experiences as a Rivers State indigene and how your life experiences have informed and shaped who you are today.
- Official scanned transcripts (JAMB score for those beginning their first year and university transcripts for continuing undergraduates) from their current institution.
- Resume/curriculum vitae
- Two professional letters of recommendation from lecturers, professors, or heads of departments. Letters of Recommendations must be sent by the recommender directly to kponeeshoveinfoundation@gmail.com

The foundation uses the following criteria in awarding its scholarships:
- Need, especially in cases where the candidate would be unable to pursue education absent support.
- Demonstrated academic ability, as by standardized test scores, previous accomplishments, and recommendations.
- Leadership and commitment to the uplifting of Rivers State, the Nigerian nation, and the African continent.
The top applicants for each cycle will be designated “finalists” and will participate in an interview with the founders of the foundation. The scholarship recipients, selected from the finalists, will be notified by the end of each year, and must have an in-person interview in Port Harcourt with the Chief Operating Officer to receive tuition support and the stipend. Additionally, all scholars must have their school ID card, local government identification letter, and tuition statement verified by the Chief Operating Officer to receive tuition support. They will begin to receive tuition support and a stipend from the foundation in the beginning of the academic year.
